Close Is Good Enough.
Laces are more forgiving than shoes. If the exact length you want is out of stock, go up one size and lace a little looser, or go down one size and use one fewer eyelet. The difference between 48" and 54" is not dramatic once they are on your shoe.
One Exception To Watch For.
A handful of sneakers have eyelets set unusually far apart, which uses up more lace than the eyelet count alone would suggest. If your shoe looks wide across the throat, size up one length.
